JORDAN'S perfumes have been ditched by Superdrug after it emerged Indian workers making the bottles were paid just £2.05 A DAY.

The store yesterday began clearing the shelves of the 32-year-old glamour girl's "Stunning" and "Besotted" fragrances. Staff at the Pragati factory in Gujarat were slaving away for well below India's minimum wage.

Glassworkers should earn at least £2.25 a day.

Experts claimed the daily wage of 141 rupees would barely cover the cost of food.

The factory also made bottles for late reality star Jade Goody's "Shhhh" perfume and for Umbro.

Superdrug sold Jordan's perfumes at £19.99 for a 50ml bottle plus gift sets.

Spokeswoman Sara Wolverson said: "We have a robust ethical trading policy."

A spokesman for Jordan, real name Katie Price, said the Indian factory had been ditched and production switched to the UK.

I worked for superdrug for a long time this is a publicity stunt for them as was the removing jades purfume during the bb race row, the bottles sat in the storeroom for a month or two and where then put back on the shelves.

You'd have to be a mug to get suckered in by this line in marketing. This is the reality behind "celebrity" endorsed goods. Slap Jordan's name on any old tat, and the chavs will flock out in their droves to buy it.

Listen to you all! You're pathetic! If you think for one minute that its just Katie Price that that does this you're very wrong, Its is horrible to think that anyone would expect things done for a ?2.50 a day wage but there are top name brands of perfume doing the exact same and selling perfume in superdrug at double the price only they dont have the publicity in the uk tha Katie does!! Publicity stunt SUPERDRUG???? I THINK SO!
I bet u all shop in primark too! Do u know how much the KIDS earn per day in the primark factory!! Probably less! Deosnt stop you's wearing them!

What I don't get is why ANY store would stock a Jordan endorsed product. I never buy 'celebrity' perfumes anyway cos they are always overpriced and they don't need the money. However, after past events I would not buy any 'Jordan' product,. Now compounded by where it is made. Horrendous
