CHERYL TWEEDY has pulled out of The X Factor on medical advice after she collapsed at a photoshoot.
The pale singer, 27, fainted in a studio on Saturday.

A doctor was rushed to the North London session and diagnosed severe exhaustion before ordering complete rest.

Cheryl's manager told X Factor chiefs last night that she would be absent from filming until further notice.

The Geordie star is said to have been working relentlessly since splitting with her footballer husband ASHLEY COLE.

Shattered Cheryl collapsed unconscious in a pale, sweating heap just minutes into the weekend photoshoot, shocked onlookers revealed.

Staff at the studio were stunned when the beauty arrived looking "washed-out" and "gaunt".

Yet she refused to postpone the session - insisting she would be fine despite a high temperature and nausea.

Make-up artists spent an hour preparing the GIRLS ALOUD singer, but after just moments under the lights she fainted.

The star was diagnosed with severe exhaustion by a doctor who sped to the scene.

He ordered a complete rest from work and tests later showed she had a vicious gastroenteritis bug.

But last night, as her manager told X Factor chiefs she would be absent from filming until further notice, worried pals voiced serious concerns over her health - claiming she had IGNORED calls to cut back on her punishing work schedule.

One friend in Cheryl's inner circle told The Sun: "She should never have gone to the studio. She insisted she was fine, even though she clearly wasn't.

"Her skin was pale and her lips had no colour. She's rundown and tired. That's why she ended up with the stomach virus.

"She told the photographer she'd be all right if she got her make-up on. But once she was under the lights it was clear she wasn't well.

"She was really sweating and the make-up staff had a job on their hands.

"Eventually she just keeled over. It was horrible. She was only out for a few seconds but it was enough to give everyone, including Cheryl, a massive scare.

"She was carried to a dark room and lay down on a sofa until the doctor arrived. She was sent home to rest and the shoot was postponed indefinitely.

"It was a real shock to see her looking so ill. She looks terrible."

X Factor judge Cheryl had defied her growing exhaustion to shoot pictures for her new album at the North London studio on Saturday afternoon.

She is said to have dismissed warnings over her 18-hour days after hurling herself into work to blot out the pain of her upcoming divorce from love-rat England soccer star Ashley.

The friend added: "Since splitting with Ashley, Cheryl has been throwing herself into work.

"She has been completely dedicated to X Factor, her album, recording sessions and touring - to an extent that it has started to affect her health.

"Cheryl has been putting on a brave face, joking about hangovers. The truth is, she's simply working far too hard.

"There's only so long someone can do 18 hours every day without burning out. She has worked relentlessly for the past 18 months. Something had to give."

In addition to her split with Cole, 29, Cheryl was left terrified last month when an over-zealous fan grabbed her arm outside X Factor auditions in Birmingham.

It was later reported that air hostess Danielle Beeres, 21, talks of Cheryl constantly and practises the star's signature.

Soon after the collapse of her four-year marriage - which followed Sun revelations of Cole's misdemeanours - the singer's weight also began to plunge. She was reportedly on a diet of mint tea.

Her mum Joan Callaghan was said to have spoken to her last month, voicing concerns about her worrying weight loss.

Last month Cheryl jetted off for a few days in Tanzania, Africa, to recharge her batteries with dancer pal DEREK HOUGH.

Sources at the hotel say she spent most of the break on her own, watching DVDs and receiving spa treatments.

But since she returned to the UK she hasn't had a single day off.

Her album is almost finished and due for release in October. And when she hasn't been recording, she has been on X Factor duty or touring. Yet more performances are planned, including a prestigious slot at next month's V Festival.

Yet friends now believe Cheryl's shock collapse could finally convince her to ease back on her gruelling schedule.


The terrifying episode followed a series of jibes from X Factor guru SIMON COWELL about her concentration last Friday.

He had joked that she was off the boil and slow during auditions on the show.

But Cheryl, whose divorce papers were placed with the High Court earlier this year, put it down to a hangover from her birthday celebrations.

In recent years, the beauty's pop career as a solo artist has proved a roaring success, with her debut album 3 Words topping the charts.

Cheryl has also impressed on The X Factor - successfully mentoring the show's winners from both 2009 and 2010, ALEXANDRA BURKE and JOE McELDERRY.

The exhausted singer is now expected to take a minimum of seven days off before gradually returning to work.

Her weight looks perfectly healthy, judging by the photos. The Sun now concludes that anyone who's not fat is "ultra-thin" or has "weight worries". Cheryl's thighs look larger than Simon Cowell's so it seems pretty unlikely she's been on a prolonged diet of mint tea, as was "reported". It might be true that she's been working too hard, but that's no reason to make things up about her weight!

I just cannot believe how some people are so unkind an comment so negatively. Poor girl she is exhausted, she had a very tight work/travel schedule the past few weeks. Just let her be. She's not harming anyone least of all the envious ones who comment so negatively. I hope she would be OK very soon and continue with her work. Poor Cheryl, she is pushed so hard by everyone, unfortunately thats the prize of fame these days. Hounded 24/7 and not left alone to get on with their lives.

Oh what a shame. It must be so hard all the work she does! Not like the rest of us mugs working 10 hours a day and still having to worry about our morgage and bills

no surprise there, the woman hasnt given herself time to sort through the issues about ashley cole, cheat or not, there are some personal demons to resolve and she is using work as an excuse, and now shes out of luck trying to duck the issue. maybe now she can work them out instead of pushing herself harder and harder to sink the demons.

Why is it celebrities never just faint, they have exhaustion. She should try working a ten hour shift like most people. It was extremely hot Saturday and being in a studio would have made it even hotter. If she was not taking on liquids this would have led to her fainting. Why does everything have to be so dramatic.
